Chair Talk 3.8 Course Content Survey
Survey on Course Content
Giving students a 'heads-up' about certain kinds of course material -- so-called 'content warnings' -- has been much discussed in higher education recently. As with most things, there are arguments both pro and con, and before we take a position at the UA we want to gather as much data as we can about how our own faculty feel.
Some days ago access to a survey about this issue was sent out to Department Heads -- they were asked to forward it to all instructors in their units. If you did not hear from your Head about this, please ask for it to be forwarded. If you have heard, but not yet responded, please do so ASAP. It will only take 5-10 min, I promise. If you have already dealt with it, thank you.
The survey is far from perfect, but then again, what is? It is a tool to quickly obtain usable information, but it requires participation. There are ample places to express your specific views if you'd like.
I'm going to keep this message short so you can use the extra time dealing with the survey. If you want your voice to count you have to use it -- an easy message to convey at this time in history.
