Senate Business Meeting Guide For Senators and Attendees

  1. Call to order
  2. Meeting reminders
  3. *Approval of the minutes of June 1, 2020 (Will be done via Qualtrics survey).
  4. Open Session: Statements at the podium on any topic, limited to two minutes. Maximum number of speakers is four. No discussion is permitted, and no votes will be taken. [8 minutes or less]
  5. President's Report, Provost's Report, ASUA, GPSC, APAC, CSC, RPC, APPC, SAPC Reports. Questions should be submitted via Zoom chat and answered via chat.
  6. Faculty Officers' Report – Chair of the Faculty, Jessica Summers (Diversity & Inclusion Committee Chair Stephanie Troutman) [5 minutes]
  7.  SPBAC Report – Co-Chair of SPBAC, Sabrina Helm [5 minutes]
  8. Information Item: Results of the General Faculty Assembly vote – Chair of the Faculty, Jessica Summers (15 minutes)
  9.  Discussion and Possible Action Item: Recommendation to delay the University furlough/pay reduction program to mid-September 2020 – Vice Chair of the Faculty, Melanie Hingle. [20 minutes]
  10. Action Item: Nominations of Senators for General Faculty ad hoc Committee on Furlough/Salary Reduction Plan – Chair of the Faculty, Jessica Summers [5 minutes]
  11. Information item: Data Analysis Report on Anticipated Needs for Students with Online/Distance Learning – Assistant Vice Provost for Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives, Marla Franco, Vice Provost for Student Success and Retention Innovation, Cynthia Demetriou, and Director of Assessment and Research, Lucas Schalewski. [15 minutes]
  12. Discussion and possible action on: Meetings of Senate
    1. Emergency Senate Meeting; revisions to the Bylaws are needed
    2. Changes to Senate calendar
      1. Confirm the Senate Business Meeting for August 3, 2020, 3-5pm
  13. Information Item: Response to concerns regarding the COVID-19 Crisis and Implications – Chair of the Faculty, Jessica Summers. Time will be designated for a Q & A session with campus leaders in lieu of reports. Questions from Senators should be submitted via Zoom chat. [30 minutes]
