Faculty Elections

General faculty elections are overseen by the Committee on Elections and usually held during spring semester. Procedures for elections are in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of the General Faculty of the University of Arizona. General faculty elections are held to elect:

  • Chair of the Faculty, Vice Chair of the Faculty, and Secretary of the Faculty in even numbered years;
  • Faculty Senators (At-Large in odd numbered years and College Representatives in even numbered years);
  • Members of the Committee of Eleven; the Strategic Planning and Budget Advisory Committee (SPBAC); Nominating Committee; and the Committee on Academic Freedom and Tenure (CAFT).

Declarations of Candidacy for Chair of the Faculty, Vice Chair of the Faculty, Secretary of the Faculty, Candidacy for thirty-three Faculty Senate College Representatives, five seats for the Committee of Eleven, two seats on the Nominating Committee, and two seats for elected faculty representatives to the Strategic Planning and Budget Advisory Committee (SPBAC) will be available online at the Faculty Governance website, beginning on Monday, January 13, 2020 and closing Friday, January 24, 2020 at 5:00pm MST.

The Spring 2020 General Election is open from February 10 through February 21. This election includes Chair of the Faculty, Vice Chair of the Faculty, Secretary of the Faculty, thirty-three Faculty Senate College Representatives, five seats on the Committee of Eleven, two seats on the Nominating Committee, and two seats on the Strategic Planning and Budgetary Committee. There is one proposed change to the Bylaws of the General Faculty of the University of Arizona.
