Fall 2016 Faculty Election Results
The Committee on Elections verified the results of the Fall Special election to revise sections of the UA Faculty Governance Constitution and Bylaws and is pleased to announce the results of the Fall 2016 General Faculty Special Election. Chair Talk 3.6 The Many Kinds of Faculty
Contrary to the fears of some, there is little evidence that tenure will disappear from the UA. The number of tenure and tenure-eligible faculty at the UA will be slightly greater in 2016 than it was in 2006 or 1996 or 1986, just after I arrived here. At the same time, the number of other-than tenure track faculty at the UA has dramatically increased over these 30 years. Such faculty play an increasing role in much of what we do at the UA, in particular enabling us to provide quality instruction in a cost-effective way.

Chair Talk 3.5 Update on Presidential Search
At the upcoming ABOR meeting this week the Regents will launch the search. They have announced the choice of a search firm, and will spell out their vision for the search at the meeting in Flagstaff. As you may recall, we recently carried out a survey concerning UA and Presidential characteristics, the summarized results of which were sent to the Co-Chairs of the Search Advisory Committee (Regents Ridenour and Shoopman), and are also appended below.
